About Us
St. Andrew's Episcopal Church is a small but spirited parish with deep roots in Livingston, Montana and a heart for its people. Our community is shaped by faith, guided by scripture, and committed to growing together in love and service. We're glad you're here.
Our Mission
Our mission is to recognize that, as followers of Jesus, we are called to become authentically human in communion with God, creation, and one another — and to cultivate this within ourselves through the disciplines of prayer, worship, study, and service. In doing so, we seek to become a people of inquiring and discerning hearts, courageous in pursuing our calling, filled with the knowledge and love of God, and blessed with joy and wonder at the mystery of creation.
Who We Are
St. Andrew’s is located in what was formerly a railroad and agricultural center but is now increasingly identified with both the arts and with outdoor recreation. We have roots in the local ranching community but also maintain strong ties with Livingston’s artists, writers, musicians, and actors.
We come from diverse spiritual backgrounds; some of us are cradle Episcopalians, and some of us are taking a fresh look at the beauty and richness of traditional liturgical worship and exploring new ways of thinking about the faith of the Christian tradition. We celebrate the many different ways that people experience the presence of God in their lives and we hope to represent the best of Christian hospitality in welcoming all who come through our doors, no matter where they are on their faith journey.
Our Belief Cornerstones
We believe in a God who loves us, the Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer who created the universe, who in Jesus Christ has healed the human condition of fear, estrangement, and death, and who sustains each of us through love and grace.
Scripture
We are not biblical literalists, but we know that the word of God is living and active, and speaks to both heart and mind.
Reason
We believe that we are called to think carefully in our search for understanding and truth.
Tradition
We believe that we have much to learn from those who have preceded us.
Experience
We believe we are called to reflect upon the experience of daily life as an ongoing journey of faith.
Rector Search
We are actively seeking a new rector for St. Andrew’s and our sister parish in Emigrant, St. John’s. We are looking for a priest who will help us deepen our faith, strengthen connections between our congregations, and guide us into the next chapter of ministry.
Our Leadership
St. Andrew’s is guided by a dedicated team of clergy, vestry and staff who are deeply committed to the life and mission of our parish.

Our History
Established as a mission in 1883, St. Andrew's has been an enduring presence in Livingston for more than 140 years. Rooted in a tradition of outreach and service, the parish has ministered to generations of Livingston residents while adapting gracefully to the changing needs of our community.
The original St. Andrew's church was built on the east side of town, near what is now the old Lincoln School. In 1954, the sanctuary was lifted and moved to its current home on the west side of downtown Livingston. In the late 1990s, a classroom and office addition was built connecting to the sanctuary — expanding our capacity to serve and grow together.
Today, St. Andrew's remains committed to inclusive worship, community engagement, and sharing God's love through service and fellowship. As Livingston continues to grow and welcome new residents from near and far, we look forward with hope and open arms — ready to meet this moment and serve our community for another 140 years and beyond.
